Dear fellow shliach, *sheyichyeh*:
With thousands of Yidden at Chabad minyanim over Rosh Hashanah, of whom
many would have not fulfilled the mitzvah of shofar otherwise, I’m sure we
made the Rebbe proud.
In the coming days, we will read and hear about the large successes, the
overflowing crowds, and the inspiring sermons that reverberated in large
auditoriums or Chabad centers.
Let’s take a moment to thank, acknowledge and pray for our unsung heroes.
There were many shluchim who on Rosh Hashanah davened for one thing: that
the 10th man walk in so they have a minyan—or that the 10th man doesn’t
walk out in the middle of musaf.
They prepared speeches and vertlach and invested in purchasing machzorim.
And the shluchos spent time and energy preparing sumptuous Yom Tov meals
for the shul.
They did not daven for a new car, a larger home, or that the market go up…
not even for a new Chabad building… they prayed only that one more man walk
in to complete the minyan!
The shluchim in these way-out, off-the-beaten-path communities attract a
larger percentage per capita of Jews than those in the larger cities. They
will not get written up on Shmais, COL, etc. They will not be asked to
give the keynote address at the Kinus.
I don’t know who you all are, you shluchim—but… pat yourselves on the back
and take a l’chaim. You guys truly exemplify shlichus. The Rebbe stands
tall with your mesiras nefesh.
May we all be blessed with large, overflowing crowds.
Sincerely Yours,
